ABSTRACT A simplified retractable needle hypodermic syringe is provided which includes a barrel having a needle carrier mounted therein with a cannula attached thereto. A slidable plunger is mounted within the barrel which includes a shaft and hub for locking to the carrier. The plunger seal is conveniently mounted about the shaft between the plunger and the hub.
