ABSTRACT A system simulator comprises a first memory means to store data predicting the state of the system to be simulated, and template storage means to store data indicating the response of the simulated system to a step input of unit magnitude. Input means indicate the state of said system, and sampling means sample periodically the input means. Comparator means compare successive outputs of said sampling means and provide an output indicative of the magnitude of the difference of successive samples. Factoring means factor the data in the template storage means by the output of the comparator means to provide a predicted response of the system to a step input of magnitude equal to said comparator output. Update means add the predicted response to said first memory means to provide a revised predicted state of the system.
