A method of casting a multi-layered metal ingot including the steps of delivering a metallic divider (14) member into a direct chill mold (4), pouring a first molten metal into the mold on one side of the divider member, and pouring a second molten metal into the mold on the other side of the divider member, and allowing the first molten metal and the second molten metal solidify to form a metal ingot (10) which includes the divider metal layer disposed there between.

L'invention concerne un procédé de coulage d'un lingot métallique multicouche, qui comprend les étapes consistant: à distribuer un élément de division métallique (14) dans un moule de refroidissement direct (4); à couler un premier métal en fusion dans le moule sur un côté de l'élément de division; à couler un deuxième métal en fusion dans le moule sur l'autre côté de l'élément de division; et à permettre au premier et au deuxième métal en fusion de se solidifier, de manière à former un lingot métallique (10) comprenant la couche métallique de division située entre les deux couches métalliques.
