ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An optical system for strip scanning of an object in both directions of relative reciprocal motion between the object and the optical system. The object is first scanned in one direction, then the image orientation is rotated 180° about the axis of propagation for scanning in the reverse direction. Properly oriented images are thus projected onto an image surface and move in the same direction during both directions of scan.
