An optical fiber having a multi-step core structure, and a method of fabricating the same, are provided. The optical fiber includes a central core having a predetermined diameter a1 from an central axis and a refractive index n1, a first outer core having a diameter a2 and a refractive index n2 smaller than the refractive index n1 and surrounding the central core, a second outer core having a diameter a3 and a refractive index n3 smaller than the refractive indexn2 and surrounding the first outer core, and a cladding having a diameter a4 anda refractive index n0 smaller than the refractive index n3 and surrounding the second outer core. The diameter of the core is increased by making the refractive index distribution of the core multi-stepped, thus providing easy fabrication. The optical fiber has a low dispersion value in a 1550nm wavelength, thus making superspeed long distance transmission possible.
Cette invention concerne une fibre optique à coeur multi-étagé et une méthode de fabrication de ladite fibre. Celle-ci comprend un coeur intérieur ayant un diamètre a1 mesuré sur un axe central et un indice de réfraction n1, un premier coeur extérieur de diamètre a2 et d'indice de réfraction n2 plus petit que l'indice n1 entourant le coeur intérieur, un second coeur extérieur de diamètre a3 et d'indice de réfraction n3 plus petit que l'indice 2n entourant le premier coeur extérieur et une gaine ayant un diamètre a4 et un indice de réfraction n0 plus petit que l'indice n3 et entourant le second coeur extérieur. Le diamètre du coeur est augmenté par distribution multi-étagée de son indice de réfraction, ce qui rend la fabrication plus aisée. Cette fibre se caractérise par un bas niveau de dispersion à la longueur d'onde de 1550 nm, ce qui rend possible une transmission ultrarapide sur grandes distances.
