ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A single optical fiber connector in which a watch X-jewel in one connector number receives the end of one optical fiber. The fiber in the mating connector member is protected by an elastomeric nose portion which deforms axially when it abuts the watch jewel allowing the end of the fiber therein to enter the bore in the jewel and couple with the first fiber therein. -1-
