A B S T R A C T There is disclosed an improvement in the continu- ous melt extrusion of a refractory polymer and its melt as- sistant by which a porous plug of the composition being ex- truded is formed between the compressing zone and the melt- ing zone of the extruder so as to prevent loss of vaproized melt assistant by backward escape through the feed inlet.
