JLT 7 18120 TITLE OF THE INVENTION A SINGLE STAGE AVIAN EMBRYO CULTURE PROCESS ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A novel single stage culture system for avian embryos is disclosed. Premature eggs consisting of about 32 to about 100 cells are collected shortly after ovulation and prepared for culture. The eggs are incubated in a potassium rich bicarbonate solution and the contents of the eggs are transferred to recipient eggshells. The open end of the eggshell is closed and the embryos are turned and incubated in an oxygen enriched atmosphere for about 3-4 days. For the final incubation period the eggs are incubated in an upright position and rocked hourly.
