ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sintered porous metal plate comprising metal particles directly and integrally bonded together by sintering, the plate being of porous structure and having a density gradient in the direction of thickness. In producing the plate metal particles are charged in a mold in a plurality of layers respectively different in metal particle size. The sintered plate has dis- tinctive features over known sintered plates in using no binder material, having the metal particles therein directly and strongly sinter-bonded together and having a density gradient in multiple coarse layer-dense layer structure in the direction of thickness of the plate.
