The tool (5) is placed in a cooling vat after the extruder, and it defines the outer dimension of the tubing to be made by pressurizing or sucking the tubing against the inner surface of the tool. The wall of the tool has a lubricating water channel system (12) extending along the whole tool length, from which system water is led onto the surface of the tubing (1). In addition to this, the tool has a separate, closed cooling medium channel system (15) also extending along the tool length.
