A skate cover is provided which comprises a pouch having an opening therein. The pouch comprises an outside layer, and an inside layer of different composition than the outside layer; the pouch further comprises a non- permanent retaining means to retain the skate cover in position over a portion of a skate. A skate cover comprising a sleeve having a pair of apertures is alsoprovided. The sleeve further comprises a retaining means to retain the skate cover in position over a main body portion of the skate.
