The apparatus is a guard that can be utilized with figure skates, speed or ice racing skates and also ice hockey goal tender skates. It is designed to be both a protective device and or an ornament. The following information contained in the abstract, specification, drawings and description of the embodiments of the apparatus and application thereof, refers generally to a figure skate application for the apparatus. However, it is understood that similar apparatus description and information can be applied to apparatus use on speed slates and ice hockey goal tender Skates. When installed in the proper position, on the upper rear metal portion and rear metal end tip of a figure skate blade, this apparatus is designed to enhance the aesthetics of the figure skate and to protect the user and any other person from corning into direct contact with the fully exposed upper rear metal portion and rear metal end tip of the figure skate blade. The apparatus, simply installed, is to remain attached to the figure skate blade at all times and is to be worn while ice skating. The apparatus is comprised of a main body (that could be constructed in any shape, by any method, and of any non-hazardous material), and an imbedded metal insert equipped with set screws. The underside of the apparatus is slotted horizontally along near its' entire length and includes an imbedded metal insert which is also slotted similarly, in width and depth, to the slot of the main body. The metal insert is equipped with set screws and the metal insert is an integral part of the main body slot. Overall, it is this main body slot that receives the fully exposed upper rear metal portion and rear metal end tip of the exposed figure skate blade. The apparatus, while meant to be a permanent fixture, is removable via loosening the set screws that secure the apparatus to the rear portion of the figure skate blade. The apparatus is also equipped with a retainer ("keeper") device, that loosely attaches the apparatus to the rear vertical post of the figure skate blade. Should the apparatus become dislodged from the figure skate blade, the retainer will keep the apparatus with the figure Skate. It is conceded that other methods for apparatus attachment to the figure skate blade and retainer attachment, apparatus to figure skate, are possible and claimed as defined in "Claims" section of this patent application.
