Greenhouses or "lean-to's" for home gardeners are shed forms with gable roofs and vertical walls covered with numerous flat panels of rigid materials (glass, fibre glass or plastic). Frames are of lumber or metal, held together with nails, screws, bolts, or plastic connectors to join the lumber frame parts. A free standing greenhouse uses the heat of the sun to aid the germination of seeds and speed the growth of plants. If attached to a fixed wall or structure as a "lean-to", it also absorbs the adjacent heat and moderates temperature changes, to increase the efficiency of the greenhouse.
