A height adjustable ski attachment is provided which is preferably readily releasably detachable to a hand truck, or the like. There is also provided a ski attachment including an elongated substantially planar runner and at least one riser of a predetermined thickness releasably mounted thereon. A support, an upper portion of which defines an aperture for rotatably mounting the attachment to a vehicle, is releasably secured atop the at least one riser. A hand truck includes a substantially planar frame member, and a platform extends essentially transversely from the lower portion of the frame member. The hand truck has two skis, which are rotatably secured to the lower portion of the frame, from which each ski attachment is readily disengageable. A retrofit kit for mounting a ski attachment onto a vehicle, such as a hand truck is also provided.
