SKIN BARRIER COMPOSITION ABSTRACT A skin barrier composition is provided which is moisture-absorbing while being resistant to urine and other body fluids and substantially non-swelling. It is composed of a continuous elastomer phase containing particulate hydrocolloid together with fumed silica. The hydrocolloid provides the water-absorbency while the fumed silica controls the swelling. The composition is adapted for ostomy and wound drainage applications, and has especially desirable properties for urostomy and ileostomy use where corrosive drainage is encountered. - 1 -
