ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cosmetic fade composition for topical application to brighten skin and reduce skin spots. The composition comprising a physiologically effective quantity of a flavonoid (preferably 0.l wright-% to about 30 weight % in purified form) and a DOPA-quinone reducing agent selected from ascorbic acid or a suitable derivative thereof. The flavonoid can be produced from a group consisting of Achillea millefolium, Candula, Sage, witch hazel, Mulberries and combinations thereof.
