A hook assembly for suspending a tarp from an overhead support such as a tree limb in a safe manner and with use of only one hand includes a eye or a ring on the shank and a reciever/ socket. The reciever/socket is sized to recieve the upper end of a pole used to lift the hook up to a overhead limb or remove the hook from the limb.
