A B S T R A C T SLAG PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR DIRECT COAL-FIRED GAS TURBINES In a direct coal-fired gas turbine system of the type having primary and secondary combustion zones (10, 30) delivering hot combustion gases to an expander section (40) of a gas turbine, a separator structure (20), is arranged between said primary and secondary combustion zones for removing debris from said hot combustion gases, and in pressurized communication therewith, and said separator structure (20) comprises an impact separator (22, 130) for at least separating a portion of molten slag from said hot combustion gases before they enter said secondary combustion zone.
