A sleeve for use with a hockey stick blade. The blade has first and second faces. The sleeve is configured to strike a puck having a side that forms knurls. The first portion has a first upper region and a first lower region, and the second portion has a second upper region extending from the first upper region and a second lower region extending from the first lower region. The second lower region defines a striking surface, which has a height of about one inch or more and defines a plurality of knurls.
