ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A slice ice production machine of the type comprising a freezing drum, which is mounted rotatably about a vertical axis and is connected, through stationary connector socket means associated with bearing means for a journal projecting axially from the freezing drum, with an exterior refrigeration system for supplying a freezing medium to the interior of the drum, means for supplying water to the cylindrical outside of the drum, such that the supplied water is frozen thereon by the action of said freezing medium, and scraper means cooperating with the surface of the drum for successively scraping of the ice as hereby produced on the outside of the drum, sealing ring means being disposed between said journal and said stationary connector socket means, and the surface of the journal as engaged by said sealing ring being treated to show high wear resistance and smoothness, characterized in that said journal is secured to the drum in a sealed and releasable manner by means of a flange and bolt connection.
