The present invention provides a subterranean structure for controlling tool access to a lateral wellbore extending from a wellbore. The subterranean structure comprises a bushing that is located in the wellbore and proximate an opening to the lateral wellbore and that has an access window therethrough for allowing access by a tool to the lateral well through the opening. The bushing further has a slidable access control device coaxially coupled thereto. Also included is a shifter that is engagable with the slidable access control device to cause the slidable access control device to slide between an open position wherein a tool is allowed to pass through the window and the opening and into the lateral wellbore and a closed position wherein the tool is prevented from passing through the window and the opening and into the lateral wellbore. The present invention also provides a method of controlling tool access to a lateral wellbore extending from a wellbore. The preferred method comprises the steps of: 1)locating a bushing in the wellbore proximate an opening to the lateral wellbore, the bushing having an access window therethrough for allowing access by a tool to the lateral wellbore through the opening, the bushing further having a slidable access control device coaxially coupled thereto; 2)engaging the slidable access control device with a shifter to slide the slidable access control device with respect to the bushing; and 3) sliding the slidable access control device between an open position wherein a tool is allowed to pass through the window and the opening and into the lateral wellbore and a closed position wherein the tool is prevented from passing through the window and the opening and into the lateral wellbore.
La présente invention consiste en une structure souterraine pour contrôler l'accès de l'outil à un forage latéral s'étendant à partir d'un forage. La présente invention comprend aussi une méthode permettant de commander l'accès de l'outil à un forage latéral s'étendant à partir d'un forage. La méthode privilégiée comprend les étapes suivantes : 1) placer un manchon dans le forage à proximité d'une ouverture vers le forage latéral, le manchon étant muni d'une fenêtre d'accès permettant d'avoir accès, au moyen d'un outil, au forage latéral par l'ouverture, le manchon étant de plus muni d'un dispositif de contrôle d'accès coulissant fixé coaxialement; 2) engager le dispositif de contrôle d'accès coulissant avec un dispositif de déplacement pour glisser le dispositif de contrôle coulissant par rapport au manchon; 3) glisser le dispositif de contrôle d'accès coulissant d'une position ouverte dans laquelle un outil peut passer par la fenêtre et l'ouverture et, ensuite, dans le forage latéral, à une position fermée qui empêche l'outil de passer par la fenêtre et l'ouverture et, de là, dans le forage latéral.
