ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A slide gate valve for use with a molten metal teeming vessel as provided with elongated spring support means that may be in the form of leaf springs, or the like, and are operative to resiliently bias the slide plate of the valve against the head plate thereof. The spring support means are arranged to be releasably secured to the linkages which attach the valve to the vessel to facilitate disassembly for valve servicing.
