A slide positioner for moving a structural member (9) from an inoperation position to a working or operating position has a square sliding shaft (10) supporting said structural member (9). Two bearing assemblies (11, 12) are adapted for supporting said sliding shaft (10) and are spaced one from the other and being connected to a stationary base (20). One (11 ) of the bearing assemblies is rigidly connected to a pneumatic cylinder (29) whose piston rod (30) is connected to the sliding shaft (10). The bearing assemblies (11, 12) being mountable to the base (20) in various angular positions (a - f) after having been pivoted around an axis which is parallel to the axis of the sliding shaft (10) (Fig.1).
