ABSTRACT A slide valve and coupler assembly for controlling fluid flow comprises a slide valve and a coupler. The slide valve comprises a valve housing having a first through fluid flow passage, a slide valve member, and guide means in the housing for guiding the slide valve member along said guide means between a closed position across and closing off said first passage to fluid flow and an open position leaving the passage open for fluid flow. The coupler comprises a coupler housing having a second through fluid flow passage, a first recess for receiving at least the slide valve member- containing portion of the slide valve housing therein with said first passage and said second passage in alignment, operating means which is adjustable in said coupler housing between a first position across and closing off said second passage, and a second position leaving said second passage open for fluid flow, and a second recess in said operating means for receiving the slide valve member when the valve housing is inserted in the first recess. The operating means is adjustable for sliding the slide valve member to said closed position when the operating means is adjusted to said first position, and to said open position when the operating means is adjusted to said second position. The coupler further comprises locking means on said operating means connecting with the valve housing when the operating means is operated to said second position.
