A slider is provided for connecting a choker assembly including a choker rope having an end provided with a ferrule, to a winchline. The slider has a first winchline-receiving link in the form of a first elongated closed loop defining a first elongated opening for receiving the winchline. The first link also has a longitudinal axis and a pair of opposite ends on the axis, one of the ends is substantially larger in section than the other one and has a curved bottom wall. This first link also has top and bottom surfaces, and a substantially trapezoidal configuration when seen in side elevational view. The slider also has a second choker-rope receiving link in the form of a second elongated loop defining a second opening. This second link is provided with a longitudinal U-shaped slot leading from the second opening out of the second link through an end thereof. This U-shaped slot is sized for receiving the choker rope and has a first extremity within the second opening which defines a seat for the ferrule. The U-shaped slot has opposite side walls sized and shaped to prevent angular displacement of the choker rope within the slot with respect to the ferrule. The walls have edges that are slightly rounded and apertures for receiving a ferrule locking pin to prevent the ferrule from exiting the second link. The slider further has a third connection link in the form of a third closed loop defining a third opening. This third link passes through the first and second openings and connects the first and second links together. When the slider is used, it is able to conform to any bearing surface while preventing overbending of the choker rope adjacent to the ferrule.
Glissière permettant de relier un ensemble étrangleur, comprenant un câble étrangleur et une virole à l'une des extrémités, à une ligne de treuil. La glissière comporte une première liaison de réception de la ligne de treuil sous la forme d'une première boucle fermée allongée définissant une première ouverture pour recevoir la ligne de treuil. La première liaison comporte également un axe longitudinal et une paire d'extrémités opposées sur l'axe, la section d'une des extrémités étant plus grande que l'autre et possédant une paroi inférieure incurvée. La première liaison comporte aussi de surfaces supérieure et inférieure ainsi qu'une configuration substantiellement trapézoïdale lorsque vue en coupe latérale vers le haut. La glissière comporte de plus une deuxième liaison de réception de câble étrangleur épousant la forme d'une deuxième boucle allongée définissant une deuxième ouverture. La deuxième liaison comporte une fente en U longitudinale depuis la deuxième ouverture jusqu'à la deuxième liaison, par une des extrémités. La fente en U est calibrée pour laisser passer le câble étrangleur et comporte une première extrémité dans la deuxième ouverture, définissant un siège pour la virole. La fente en U comporte des parois latérales opposées et épouse une forme qui empêche le déplacement angulaire du câble étrangleur dans la fente par rapport à la virole. Les parois ont des côtés légèrement arrondis et comporte des ouvertures pour recevoir une goupille de sûreté de virole de manière à empêcher cette dernière de sortir de la deuxième liaison. De plus, la glissière comporte une troisième liaison de connexion épousant la forme d'une troisième boucle fermée définissant une troisième ouverture. La troisième liaison traverse les deux premières ouvertures et relie la première te la deuxième liaison. Lorsque la glissière est utilisée, elle peut s'adapter à toute surface d'appui tout en empêchant le pliage excessif du câble étrangleur à proximité de la virole.
