ABSTRACT There is described a sliding closure intended for use with a bag or the like, the closure comprising two track parts extending along opposite sides of an opening in the bag, and fixed thereto, and a closure element com- posed of a plurality of articulated segments which engage enlarged rail portions of the tracks to hold the tracks together, the total length of the plurality of segments is substantially equal to the length of the opening, the closure element extending from one end of the opening to the other in its closed position, the open position being achieved by longitudinal movement of the entire closure element. The closure is described in relation to postal envelopes and mailbags, and in relation to the various alternative embodiments there are described guides for the sliding closure element, end stop assemblies, and a sealing arrangement is en- visaged.
