The sliding door assembly comprises two exterior door panels and two interior door panels set within the door frame, the door panels having substantially the same width. A single screen door is provided between the exterior door panels and the interior door panels. The single screen door may be set in either one of two guiding fins, the position of the screen door being interchangeable while respecting the spacing between the screen door and an adjacent door panel. The sliding door assembly is very advantageous over the conventional sliding door assemblies where no such selection of the position of the single screen door side is possible.
