A system for moving a slide-out compartment includes a modular slider mechanism and a means for connecting the sliding assembly to other sliding assemblies. The sliding assembly includes a guide member having an interior chancel defined by the sides and base of the guide member and two securing, flanges separated by a gap. A slider rail is disposal within the interior channel and has a middle portion adapted to cooperate with a gear mechanism disposed within the interior channel. The gear mechanism drivingly engages with the slider rail, while being adapted to cooperate with the means for connecting and/or a means for driving the gear mechanism to move extend or retract the slide-out compartment.
