This invention relates to a lock assembly for a sliding seat which can retain the seat in position in relation to a seat support member, the lock assembly comprising means for biased engagement with the support member. The invention particularly provides devices for means for engaging the support member. A lock assembly is also provided which incorporates these devices and which is characterized in that the engagement means thereof is displaceable from a first engagement configuration to a second non engagement configuration by being grasped with one hand. An engagement device is, for example, provided which comprises tab means fixed to an engagement body, the engagement body having a surface for engaging a respective surface of the support member.
