In a device used to secure sliding windows or doors it is convenient to be able to partly open the window or door and still keep the opening secure from access. In this invention latches are secured to the device so that the original window or door lock may be released and allow one of the windows or door to open to a pre arranged distance denying access while securing the second sliding window from opening. The device provides for an alarm device to be attached to send a signal if the device is moved to the non protection mode. Rotating the moveable member of the device through a 90 degree arc releases both latches freeing one or both sliding units to move. The device may also be used to keep one or both sliding units secured fully closed. A length of unit longer than required is supplied to be cut at location to the appropriate length for the desired protection.
