Slips include a body having an interior surface that defines an interior cavity. A track is positioned on the interior surface of the body. The track has confining sidewalls with track engagement profiles. Slip elements are provided, each slip element having a face and opposed sides having element engagement profiles. The element engagement profiles engage the track engagement profiles to maintain the slip elements in engagement with the track while allowing the slip elements to slide axially along the track to move the face of each of the slip elements between a converging pipe engaging position and a diverging pipe releasing position. There is at least one fluid activated actuator adapted to move the slip elements between the pipe engaging position and the pipe releasing position.
