ABSTRACT A sliver opener roller for use in textile machinery comprises a replaceable clothing sleeve, a roller body, and a clamping ring screwed to the roller body. It is proposed according to the invention to arrange within the clothing sleeve, between the radial surfaces of the roller body and of the clamping ring, a resilient element which can be so radially deformed, subject to an axially applied pressure that it frictionally connects the clothing sleeve to the roller body. As a consequence of the elasticity of the resilient element, the clamping ring can be adjusted to a varying extent relative to the roller carrier, without the frictional connection between the clothing ring and the roller body being thereby impaired.
