A slotted hosel (12) and related attachment system and method are provided for securely affixing a golf club head (10) to the end of a golf club shaft (14). The hosel (12) is formed to extend generally cylindrical upwardly from a heel end of the club head and has a generally cylindrical shape defining an upwardly open hosel bore. At least one and preferably multiple laterally open slot (16) are formed in the hosel (12) to reduce the weight thereof. A relatively thin-walled liner sleeve (18) is slide-fitted into the hosel bore and thereafter expanded to form dimples therein protruding outwardly into secure mechanical interlocking relation with the hosel (12). The end of the club shaft (14) is thereafter slide-fitted into the liner sleeve (18) and securely affixed therein by epoxy of the like.
L'invention concerne un hosel à fentes (12) et un système de fixation apparenté, ainsi qu'un procédé permettant de fixer une tête (10) de club de golf à l'extrémité du manche (14) de ce club de golf. L'hosel (12) est formé de manière à s'étendre dans le sens cylindrique vers le haut depuis l'extrémité du talon de la tête du club et présente une forme généralement cylindrique qui définit un alésage de hosel ouvert vers le haut. Au moins une fente ouverte, et de préférence, de multiples fentes ouvertes (16) dans le sens latéral sont ménagées dans le hosel (12) afin de réduire le poids de ce dernier. Un manchon à paroi relativement mince (18) est inséré par coulissement dans l'alésage de cet hosel, et dilaté ensuite pour former des alvéoles qui débordent vers l'extérieur afin d'assurer un verrouillage mécanique fixe du hosel (12). L'extrémité du manche du club (14) est ensuite inséré par coulissement dans le manchon à paroi mince (18) et fixé correctement dans ce dernier par époxy ou similaire.
