ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A seat belt support assembly providing for shifting of the load on the seat belt from an anchor link connected to the vehicle seat to a tether belt connected to the vehicle frame. One end of the anchor link has a slot therein and a first fastener secures the slotted end to the vehicle frame for pivotal movement. At the opposite end of the anchor link, one end of a seat belt is attached along with one end of a tether belt. The opposite end of the tether belt is fixed to the vehicle frame. A second fastener releasably secures the anchor link to the vehicle frame, the second fastener being spaced from the first fastener. Normally the anchor link will be held stationary but in the event of a large load being placed on the seat belt, the second fastener will release allowing the length to pivot on the first fastener for better distribution of the forces involved.
