A metal building stud having at least one supplemental flange extending from at least one slot in the stud web yielding a stud with increased strength, both compressive (longitudinally) and in shear (transverse). The slotted web presents a reduced web area through-which heat or sound may be conducted and slots in which insulation is received, both increasing resistance to heat and sound transfer. Slots and supplemental flanges may also be provided in the stud primary flanges.

L'invention concerne un poteau de construction métallique doté d'au moins un rabat supplémentaire partant d'au moins une fente dans l'âme du poteau et donnant lieu à un poteau à résistance accrue, aussi bien à la compression (longitudinalement) qu'au cisaillement (transversalement). L'âme fendue présente une surface d'âme par laquelle la chaleur ou le son peut être amené, ainsi que des fentes qui reçoivent l'isolation, l'ensemble augmentant la résistance aux transferts thermique et sonore. Les fentes et les rabats supplémentaires peuvent être également prévus dans les rabats principaux du poteau.
