ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sluice duct having an inlet duct and an outlet duct each of truncated-pyramidical form and with their smaller ends adjacent. A short throat portion separates the inlet duct and the outlet duct and has a cross-sectional area of about half the cross-sectional area of each larger end of the inlet duct and the outlet duct. The inlet duct has an included angle of from about 30° to 50° and an axial length of from about 0.2 to 0.3 of the axial length of the sluice duct, and the outlet duct has an included angle of from about 11° to 19°. 12661 AnX
