Abstract Q/N 30260OA Slurry Explosive Composition A slurry explosive composition based on an aqueous dispersion of ammonium nitrate is disclosed. The ammonium nitrate (AN) is prepared by comminuting solid AN granules in the presence of a saturated solution of AN and a dissolved additive which inhibits regrowth at crystal surfaces of the AN. When used in a thickened slurry explosive composition an explosive of improved velocity of detonation, improved gel structure and improved stability results.
