Small particle size catalysts having an average particle size of less than 20 or 10 microns, which agglomerate when contacted with a hydrocarbon liquid, are easily dispersed in the hydrocarbon liquid by first forming a mixture comprising the catalyst particles and one or more non-acidic, liquid polar oxygenates, such as an alcohol, ketone, ester, ether or mixture thereof. The mixture is contacted with the hydrocarbon liquid in which the particles then readily disperse. This process is useful for adding fresh or regenerated small particle size catalyst to catalytic hydroprocessing process slurries, including a reactive Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis slurry. One to four carbon atom alcohols are preferred oxygenates for use with a Fischer-Tropsch slurry.

L'invention concerne des catalyseurs à petites particules, présentant une taille inférieure à 20 ou 10 microns, qui s'agglomèrent lorsqu'elles sont mises en contact avec un hydrocarbure liquide, et se dispersent facilement dans ledit hydrocarbure liquide par la formation d'abord d'un mélange comprenant un ou plusieurs oxygénats polaires liquides, non acides, tels que l'alcool, le cétone, l'ester, l'éther ou un mélange de ceux-ci. Ledit mélange est mis en contact avec ledit hydrocarbure liquide dans lequel les particules se dispersent ensuite facilement. Ledit procédé est utile pour l'addition de catalyseur à petites particules neuf ou régénéré, dans des suspensions de procédé d'hydrocraquage catalytique, dont une suspension de synthèse d'hydrocarbures de Fischer-Tropsch. Avec une suspension de Fischer-Tropsch, on utilise, de préférence, des oxygénats du type alcools à un à quatre atomes de carbone.
