Abstract The present invention is directed to a vise for use with a sewing machine which is arranged for the automatic application of small pieces of cloth such as small pockets by two fixing seams wherein on at least one side the seams are not parallel. The vise has a cylinder driving a plate which transmits its motion to blades placed under the central element for displacing the blades in proximity to the seams. The plate is adapted to displace first and second levers connected to a blade corresponding to a pocket side where the seams are not parallel. As the plate moves, pin and slot arrangements ensure that the two levers move by different amounts so that the blade rotates slightly as well as being moved inwardly or outwardly.
