Small diameter rotary drill bits (30) with detachable pedestal mounted rolling disc cutters (36), the bit having a plurality of longitudinal edge mounting slots (38) located at preselected angularly spaced apart locations. A set of peripheral pedestal mounts (34) each having a mounting portion sized is mounted in its preselected mounting slot. In one embodiment, the longitudinally extending slots further comprise a wedge shaped edge portion (54), and the pedestal mounts have a complimentary angularly shaped portion (54P). The pedestal mounts (34) each include, at the lower reaches thereof at least one small diameter single cutting edge rolling disc cutter (36). The rolling disc cutters are affixed at individually preselected radially spaced apart locations with respect to a central longitudinal axis forming the center of rotation of the rotary drill bit. Also, each of the rolling disc cutters is mounted at a preselected angle delta with respect to the central longitudinal axis forming the center of rotation of the rotary drill bit. Also, the rolling disc cutters are preferably detachably affixed to the pedestal mounts.
La présente invention concerne un nouveau trépan rotatif de petit diamètre (30) pourvu de couteaux en forme de disques tournants montés sur socles (36), le trépan possédant une pluralité d'encoches longitudinales de montage en bordure (38), situées à des endroits présélectionnés angulairement espacés. Un ensemble de bâtis de socles périphériques (34) ont chacun une partie de montage calibrée et montée dans son encoche de montage présélectionnée. Dans un des modes de réalisations, les encoches s'étendant longitudinalement comprennent également une partie en bordure formée en coin (54), les bâtis de socles étant pourvus d'une partie complémentaire angulairement formée (54P). Les bâtis de socles (34) comprennent chacun, au niveau des parties les plus inférieures, au moins un couteau tournant à petit diamètre et à un seul bord tranchant (36). Les disques coupants sont fixés à des endroits individuellement présélectionnés radialement espacés par rapport à un axe central longitudinal constituant le centre de rotation du trépan. Par ailleurs, chacun des disques coupants tournants est monté à un angle delta présélectionné par rapport à l'axe central longitudinal constituant le centre de rotation du trépan tournant. Enfin, les disques coupants sont de préférence fixés de manière amovible sur les bâtis des socles.
