Novel compounds of the formula (I) which are useful for treating or preventing inflammatory and immune cell-mediated diseases. Exemplary compounds are: 3-(4-bromobenzyl)-1-(3,5- dichlorophenyl)-1, 3-dihydroindol-2-one; 3-(4-bromobenzyl)-1-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-3-methyl-1,3- dihydro-indol-2-one; 3-benzyl-1-(3,5-dichlorophenyl) -3-methyl-1,3-di-hydroindol-2-one; 3-(4-bromobenzyl)-1-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-4- hydroxy-3-methyl-1,3-dihydroindol-2-one; and 3-(4-bromoben-zyl)-1-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-5-fluoro-1,3-dihydroindol-2-one.
