Methods for treating allergies, cutaneous inflammation, arthritis, chronic obstruction pulmonary disease and treating chronic inflammatory bowel disease are described. Also described is a method for inhibiting the infiltration of eosinophils into airways of a patient, a method for inhibiting the mucous release into airways of a patient, a method for blocking IgE activation of a lymphocyte, a method for stabilizing the cell membrane of a lymphocyte, thereby preventing their further involvement in the increased inflammatory response to an IgE antigen challenge, and a method for inhibiting the migration of T-cells. Such methods involve administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a peptide having the formula f-Met-Leu-X, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of Tyr, Tyr-Phe, Phe-Phe and Phe-Tyr.

L'invention concerne des procédés servant à traiter des allergies, des inflammations cutanées, l'arthrite, l'obstruction pulmonaire chronique, ainsi que la maladie intestinale inflammatoire. Elle concerne également un procédé servant à inhiber l'infiltration d'éosinophiles dans les voies respiratoires d'un patient, un procédé servant à inhiber la libération muqueuse dans les voies respiratoires, un procédé servant à bloquer l'activation d'IgE d'un lymphocyte, un procédé servant à stabiliser la membrane cellulaire d'un lymphocyte, ce qui l'empêche de continuer à jouer un rôle dans l'augmentation de la réaction inflammatoire à une sollicitation d'un antigène d'IgE, ainsi qu'un procédé servant à inhiber la migration des lymphocytes T. Ces procédés consistent à administrer audit patient une quantité efficace thérapeutiquement d'un peptide possédant la formule f-Met-Leu-X, X étant sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par Tyr, Tyr-Phe, Phe-Phe et Phe-Tyr.
