A smart card authenticates a cardholder. The smart card includes a substrate, a sensor module, a wireless transceiver module, and a power circuit. The sensor module includes (a) a biometric sensor adapted to detect biometric information from a person's body, (b) a processor unit adapted to authenticate the person in response to the detected biometric information and generate an authentication signal representing an authentication result, and (c) a memory adapted to store biometric information of a specific individual associated with the smart card. The wireless transceiver module transmits signals received from the processor unit and receives a wirelessly-transmitted power signal. The power circuit generates at least one supply voltage from the received power signal and provides the supply voltage to the sensor module. An electronic passport is embedded with the smart card, and a terminal module is used for wirelessly transmitting power to and receiving signals from the electronic passport.
L'invention concerne une carte à puce permettant d'authentifier son titulaire. Ladite carte à puce comprend un substrat, un module de détection, un module émetteur-récepteur sans fil, et un circuit d'énergie. Ledit module de détection comprend (a) un détecteur biométrique conçu pour détecter des informations biométriques corporelles d'une personne, (b) une unité processeur conçue pour authentifier la personne en réponse aux informations biométriques détectées et pour produire un signal d'authentification représentant un résultat d'authentification, et (c) une mémoire conçue pour stocker des informations biométriques d'un individu spécifique associé à la carte à puce. Le module émetteur-récepteur sans fil transmet des signaux reçus de l'unité processeur et reçoit un signal d'énergie transmis sans fil. Le circuit d'énergie produit au moins une tension d'alimentation à partir du signal d'énergie reçu et fournit la tension d'alimentation au module de détection. Un passeport électronique est intégré avec la carte à puce, et un module terminal est utilisé pour transmettre sans fil l'énergie vers le passeport électronique et recevoir les signaux provenant du passeport électronique.
