A computer designed nanoengineered membrane for separation of dissolved species. One embodiment provides an apparatus for treatment of a fluid that includes ions comprising a microengineered porous membrane, a system for producing an electrical charge across the membrane, and a series of nanopores extending through the membrane. The nanopores have a pore size such that when the fluid contacts the membrane, the nanopores will be in a condition of double layer overlap and allow passage only of ions opposite to the electrical charge across the membrane.
L'invention concerne une membrane, obtenue par une technologie à l'échelle nanométrique, qui permet de séparer les espèces dissoutes. Un premier mode de réalisation concerne le traitement d'un liquide qui contient des ions dotés d'une membrane poreuse obtenue par une technologie à l'échelle nanométrique, un système qui produit une charge électrique dans la membrane, ainsi qu'une série de nanopores qui traversent la membrane. Ces nanopores présentent un diamètre de pore qui, lorsque le liquide entre en contact avec la membrane, permet aux nanopores de former une double couche de recouvrement qui n'accorde le passage qu'aux ions opposés à la charge électrique parcourant la membrane.
