SMOKE AND FIRE RESISTANT COMPOSITIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A combination of (1) magnesium hydroxide and (2) alumina trihydrate has been found to have synergistic proper- ties in reducing smoke and/or flame spread in many polymer compositions when compared to the use of either alone. In some cases even better results are obtained by including an- timony trioxide or antimony trioxide together with finely di- vided silica.
