ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Smoke-retardant halogen-containing compositions which are useful for coatings, foamed products, articles, plastisols, organosole or the like, and which have an aliphatic halogen-containing polymer, reactive modifier and phosphate ester. The reactive modifier is preferably an oxide, hydroxide or salt of a metal, or a metal salt of a lower aliphatic acid. The phosphate ester is selected from the group consisting of a trialkyl phosphate, dialkylaryl phos- phate, alkyldieryl phosphate, triaryl phosphate or mixtures thereof.
