ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is a composition which produces tense smoke on ignition and which comprises zinc oxide, ammonium perchlorate, polychloroisoprene, a plasticizer and a buffering agent, the relative proportions of the components being such that on ignition of the composition there is produced dense smoke whose pH is in the range of from 5 to 7. The smoke obtained on ignition of the composition is dense and displays good surface-adherence, so that the smoke is suitable for camoflage purposes. The smoke obtained is of substantially neu- tral pH.
