The invention relates to a method for operating a data connection between a base station (AP1) and one or several mobile stations (MS1 to MS4), according to which data packets are transmitted between the base station (AP1) and the mobile stations within transmission phases, the beginning of each transmission phase (U) is indicated by issuing a starting signal (B), particularly a beacon signal, and the air interface between the base station and the mobile stations is managed by the base station during the respective transmission phase. The aim of the invention is to create a method which allows mobile stations to perform smooth handover processes to other base stations. Said aim is achieved by excluding each mobile station from the transmission of data packets during at least one subsequent transmission phase following the transmission of data packets while the mobile stations switch to a listening phase (M) during which radio traffic is monitored and another base station (AP2) that is suitable for transmitting data packets is searched outside the transmission phases used for transmitting data packets with the base station in order to prepare a handover process.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour faire fonctionner un circuit de données entre une station de base (AP1) et une ou plusieurs stations mobiles (MS1 à MS4). Selon ce procédé, des paquets de données sont transmis entre la station de base (AP1) et les stations mobiles au cours de phases de transmission et, par émission d'un signal de départ (B), en particulier d'un signal de balise, le début de chaque phase de transmission (U) est signalé et l'interface hertzienne entre la station de base et les stations mobiles est gérée par la station de base pour la phase de transmission respective. L'objectif de l'invention est d'améliorer ce procédé de sorte que des stations mobiles puissent effectuer des opérations de transfert sans fil vers d'autres stations de base. A cet effet, après une transmission de paquets de données, chaque station mobile cesse de transmettre des paquets de données pour au moins une phase de transmission suivante et les stations mobiles passent dans une phase d'écoute (M) en dehors des phases de transmission servant à la transmission de paquets de données avec la station de base pour préparer une opération de transfert, cette phase d'écoute (M) consistant à contrôler les radiocommunications et à chercher une autre station de base (AP2) adaptée à la transmission de paquets de données.
