The present invention relates to an electrocatalytic coating and an electrode having the coating thereon, wherein the coating is a mixed metal oxide coating, preferably ruthenium, titanium and tin or antimony oxides. The coating uses water as a solvent that provides for a smoother surface than alcohol based solvents. The electrocatalytic coating can be used especially as an anode component of an electrolysis cell and in particular a cell for the electrolysis of aqueous chlor-alkali solutions.

L'invention concerne un revêtement électrocatalytique, et une électrode comprenant ce revêtement. Ce revêtement se compose d'un revêtement d'oxyde mixte, contenant de préférence des oxydes de ruthénium et titane et d'étain. Ces revêtements comprennent de l'eau en guise de solvant, ce qui permet d'obtenir une surface plus lisse qu'avec les solvants à base d'alcool. Ce revêtement électrocatalytique peut être utilisé en particulier en tant que composant anodique dans une cellule d'électrolyse, et en particulier dans une cellule destinée à l'électrolyse de solutions aqueuses chlore-alcalis.
