The present invention relates to the provision of a wiper blade assembly pivot joint (10) of the type where a plastics material insert (17) is located between two internesting metallic channel members (11,14), the insert member (17) being of channel like configuration having a base wall (18) and opposed side walls (19,20), the insert member further having a pair of solid circular trunnions (23) extending from the side walls (19,20) of the insert member (17) being engaged in circular bearing apertures (24,49) in one of the metallic channel members (11,14), the insert member (17) also having a pair of non- circular projections (26) extending from its side walls (19,20) in directions opposite to the circular trunnions (23,48) and engaged in slots (32,47) in one of the metallic channel members (11,14) that open onto either lower or upper edges of side walls (13,16) of the metallic channel members (11,14), the slots (32,47) including retention means (35) to enable the non-circular projections (26) to be retained therein.
